**** International Students Food Assistance ****
The Study NSW team is updating the International Student Welfare Services Hub (to ensure information is still accurate).
Foodbank received 1,000+ enquiries from international students over the weekend seeking food hampers. They are working with 18 education and charity partners across NSW to determine which distribution centres are open during lockdown.
Please direct international students to this page: https://secure-web.cisco.com/…/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.study… and encourage them to complete the Foodbank form. Foodbank staff will be in touch to advise the student which is their closest, open distribution centre. In the event a student is in isolation, they can also organise hampers to be couriered to the students however they are not promoting this up front as they don’t want to overwhelm Foodbank.
They are also expecting the Australian Government to announce support for those impacted by NSW hotspots and lockdown. International students may be eligible for the following payments:
• Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment – New South Wales (if they have been asked to isolate by NSW Health)
• COVID-19 Disaster Payment (not yet available for NSW however we’re awaiting further announcements)
