We are proud to Launch our new book and welcome our guests to purchase a hard copy.

About The Book:

Multicultural Arc describes and analyses a half-century of multicultural action and policy in Australia, as the country changed from being 99.5% European to one of the most diverse societies in the world. Through examinations of the changes introduced by successive governments, readers follow the twists and turns of ideology and popular attitudes. From the “invention” of Australian multiculturalism through to attacks on its very existence, the affirmation of Australia’s multicultural future now depends on addressing systemic racism and continuing inequalities. Five key themes include the place of First Nations in a multicultural society, the problems of racism, the challenges of communication and representation, the shredding of research capacity, and the creation of best fit institutions. Key words for the future are recognition, research and representation. Multicultural Arc is published by Sydney Multicultural Community Services.

A big thank you to everyone who made 2021 Multicultural Seniors Carnivale a great success. This year’s Multicultural Seniors Carnivale coincided with our 40th year anniversary since our inception in 1981. Around 140 Senior clients of SMCS attended the event with spectacular views over coastal sandstone cliffs and the Pacific Ocean. A perfect backdrop to say thank you to our much-loved elderly clients.

Sydney MCS is known for being a trailblazer in supporting and celebrating Seniors from diverse cultural backgrounds and yesterday’s event reflected the strength of Multiculturalism in Australia. We wouldn’t have done it without our amazing clients, dignitaries, guests, care workers, volunteers and staff members. The Carnivale is an opportunity to celebrate our Seniors’ contribution to our community and it also allows them to connect with each other over song, dance, good food and conversation.

We cannot thank enough our dignitaries and guest speakers: MP Michael Daley, Mayor of Randwick Danny Said, MP for Kingsford Smith Matt Thistlethwaite and Randwick Councillor Dylan Parker. Last but not the least, we want to thank our CEO Rosa Loria for being a champion of the rights and welfare of Seniors from Culturally and Linguistically diverse backgrounds in our community.

Please check out all the services we provide for our Seniors such as Aged Care, Home Care Packages, Community Visitors Scheme, Social Support Groups, Brokered Services and Centre Based Respite Care.
