Sydney Multicultural Community Services (SMCS) is sad to announce the postponement of Refugee Week Picnic 2021 until further notice. After speaking to key stakeholders and following the instruction of NSW Health regarding the interest of public health and safety in lieu of the current Covid-19 outbreak, Sydney MCS CEO, Rosa Loria, has decided to postpone the popular Refugee Week Picnic.
“Whilst many have been looking forward to attend this popular event at One More Shot Pond Site – Grand Drive Centennial Park, it is irresponsible to set out to stage an event especially in Bondi where the current cluster began,” said Rosa Loria, CEO Sydney Multicultural Community Services.
“We would like to thank all our supporters, staff and volunteers for their ongoing support. I acknowledge that we still have a long way to go with Covid-19 but I have no doubt we will find a solution to this terrible virus.”
The postponement of the Refugee Week Picnic 2021 is hugely disappointing and frustrating but it will no doubt cut the risk of Covid-19 transmission. Sydney MCS will announce another date for the Refugee Week Picnic in the future and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.
