Creative Conservation – Knit for Wildlife

img_8757Our possum pouch knitting workshop was a great success! We had about 25 people attend the workshop, so many little possum lives will be saved :-)

Viv and Shin from WIRES gave us an intro on why pouches are needed and what they are used for. They also showed us heaps of adorable photos and videos of possums they have had in their care. Many happy stories, and some sad ones as well. That definitely got us all motivated to knit pouches to help keep these cute little joeys warm, which significantly increases their survival chances.

We are very grateful to Mosman Needlecraft, Knitting for the Soul, The Granny Square, and The Yarn Bar for their generous donations for our workshop.

If you want to help save possum’s lives as well, please see the WIRES knitting instructions for pouches and covers for hot water bottles. Please contact us (info@sydneyscb.org) or WIRES Sydney East directly for information where to drop off finished pouches.

Thanks to everyone who attended the workshop for your help in contributing to the survival of our little furry friends.
