The launch of our Conservation Café – a success

February 8, 2015 at 10:02 am

In February 2015 we launched a new monthly event to celebrate and learn about the incredible work being done by our region’s conservation professionals and volunteers over a cup of coffee and a chat: Conservation Café. It is a very casual meeting space for our members and other people who are interested in conservation and would like to meet like-minded people.

Our first guest was Dr. Holly Parsons, the program manager of Birds in Backyards at BirdLife Australia. She told us about many different projects that she works on, how everyone can contribute and even took us for a walk to the Lachlan Swamp and Duck Pond to look for a Powerful Owl. Unfortunately, we did not find one, but we saw a Channel-billed Cuckoo baby being fed by a clueless Currawong. I think everyone was happy enough with that 😉 Thanks so much to Holly for an awesome start to our event!

It was a great start to our monthly event that take place on the first Saturday of the month at 10am, unless it coincides with a public holiday weekend. So keep your eyes open for the announcement of our next guests. The only thing you have to do is show up, have a coffee/tea and meet lots of great people! So what are you waiting for?! :-)
